As some of you may know, I have quite a few jobs. I work full time at a newspaper as an advertising coordinator, I work part time at an urgent care clinic as a guest coordinator, and I also have Coffee & Cat Eyes! I know what you’re thinking… that sounds exhausting. Well, yes, it is! One of my difficulties with having so many jobs is the wardrobe aspect. I love wearing comfy, casual clothes ALL THE TIME. However, with so many jobs for which I need to dress professionally, I’m not always able to do that. Today, I’m sharing a look that combines the best of both worlds (*spontaneously breaks into the “Hannah Montana” theme song*). Today, I’m pairing my beloved comfy skinny jeans with a business-appropriate blazer for the ultimate casual-meets-professional outfit.
Blazers and slacks have become a wardrobe staple of mine. I wear my black Sloan pants from Banana Republic way more often than I care to admit, and I own blazers in so many colors it’s crazy! For me, professional wardrobe pieces are fun to shop for and definitely can be fun to wear, but I would always prefer to be wearing my casual wardrobe favorites. With this look, I’ve found a way to combine my pretty blazers and my beloved jeans. If you’re like me and need some wardrobe merging, you could benefit from a look like this.
To keep the casual vibe of my outfit, I’ve paired my jeans and blazer with a casual, but pretty, crochet top. This top, with its pretty cut and eye-catching detail, is definitely something I would wear on a warm spring afternoon. But paired with my black business blazer, it gets a more dressed-up feel that I love!
This look is so easy to translate to your own wardrobe. Simply choose your favorite pair of jeans and a trusty blazer, and you’re good to go! If you don’t own a blazer, you can add a business-professional flair to your jeans by opting for a tucked-in button-down shirt or a structured cardigan instead.
How do you incorporate your professional wardrobe pieces into your casual closet? Share your ideas with me! And certainly let me know if you tried this look yourself… I would love to see your variation!
