Anyone who knows me knows that I’m not the biggest fan of T-shirts. Being a pretty petite person, I already look like I’m 14 years old, and that classic childlike cut of a T-shirt certainly doesn’t help things. Additionally, I feel that T-shirts can often lead to those oh-so-unflattering (and uncomfortable) sweat stains… yuck! You will, however, find me in the occasional T-shirt, when you do, it will likely be a looser or oversize tee. Early in college, I worked at Aerie (the bra & panties store associated with American Eagle), and I found that their oversize T-shirts totally fit what I was looking for in a T-shirt… so, I of course bought one in every color. My favorite has turned out to be the simple gray, which I love pairing with a fun pop of color for summer.
Oversize tees are great for more than just keeping pit stains away. Their more open neckline provides the perfect blank canvas for some layering! You can pair an oversize T-shirt with a halter bralette, a criss-cross sports bra, or even a high-neck swim top… whatever floats your boat! Personally, I love layering it over my pink racerback bralette. Last week, I styled this bralette under a zebra print midi dress for a more sophisticated vacation outfit. Today, we are all about that casual vibe.
Simple light wash skinny jeans and comfy sandals will complete this outfit. If you want to copy my look but don’t have a bright bralette, take my advice above and pair with a different bra or bralette, or even a swim top! As long as you’re layering with a pop of interest, your look will be the same.
How do you style T-shirts for summer? Do any of you feel the same way about T-shirts? I can’t be the only one!
